Dear principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates. I am the chairman of the Green club. Judging by the boring looks on your faces, i am not here to talk about creating recycle bins for your class or to collect newspapers. I am here to talk about a graver matter, something so grave that it will undoubtedly affect or life and our next generation, I , am here to talk about " Saving our Earth"

While we are enjoying the luxuries of life, sleeping in air conditional rooms, Feasting on scrumptious food, while people living on the other side of the earth are suffering from our comforts. People are dieing from starvation and here we are wasting food and natural resources.

People that will cherish whatever food they can have and that they will be elated to find bread in a bin so that they can eat and share with their families and here we are choosing what to eat, what is nice and what is not. Eating 3 meals a day is the norm for us and we demand good food and not plain food like bread.

People there have no toys and use wood and sticks as their toys and here we are, wanting more and more. Each time our expectation of better things increase.

Nothing seems to satisfy us.

Through rapid industrailization, we humans have depleted many of Earth's natural resources. Through activities like, deforestation,forest fires, mining activities and excretion of the solutes into the sea. The Earth has caught a cold according to the scientist. Strange things are happening to earth. The "El-nino" and "Le-nena" effects are just the tip of the iceberg. Scientist are still confused by what is happening.

Low lying areas like Hong Kong may just disappear right before our very eyes as the ice caps melts and the sea level rising. Animals are becoming extinct and our child may not even have the chance to catch a glimpse of a panda.

How disastrous!

As we are progressing towards a mordern society, our environment is degrading. All this must come to an end.

I always had a dream, a dream that the world will be green again.

Where the sun greets us every clear and bright morning.

Where the trees sway under the light breeze.

Where birds chirp happily, welcoming us.

Where the sweet smell of flowers brightens up our day.

All this can be done as we have a dream, a dream to save the earth!!!!!!!!!!

one word topic (MONEY)

Money cannot buy anything and everything. Money cannot buy you happiness, money cannot take away your loneliness, money cannot take away your fears and sorrow. we live in an era where nothing comes free. Whatever we do requires money. From simple tasks like buying basic necessities to buying a house. Money is very important in our life and we cannot live without it. Its like humans are the tree and money is the leaf. Without any of them, none will survive. It is bleak reality that everyone wants more money for themselves.

The notion that the world is basking in nefariousness is too extreme, but we must resign to the fact that it is inevitable for man to be susceptible to money allurement. Many yearn to satisfy their whims and fancies. Whenever people hear that there is free stuffs, no doubt human first reaction is to ask where is it and to go there immediately. Impressionable people often fall prey to the lure of money. Imagine one day when you received a phone call telling you that you have just won $50000 in a lucky draw. Exhilaration will then bubble up inside you and you will be filled with exuberant and jubilation. when they say that you just need to make a small deposit of $1000, you will be too happy enjoying this glorious moment that you will just accept. This is when you u got scammed. To get what they want, people will conceal their wrongdoings with a concoction of lies and deceit to escape the blame.

Here is an example. My friend like all of us teenagers spent alot and money to us is vital for our daily life. when one person wants money desperately, he or she will resort in any method to get their hands on them. Be it in secrecy or by force. In schools nowadays, theft is quite rare but low crime doesn't mean no crime. My friend was a very wile and vain person who only wanted the best. He was not rich and i was wondering how he had the ability to but those exquisite goods which is not cheap. Then one day, i saw him during his "routine check" he was in a sec1 class searching in people's bags. In his hands were two handphones and 3 wallets.

Reality hit me like a slap on my face as the action in front of me rendered me speechless and severely traumatised me. Many thoughts swarm past my mind. the good side of me told me report but the bad side of me told me not to betray my friend. I was in a dilemma. i decided to give him one more chance hoping that he will turn over a new leaf but he did not. He was later apprehended and caned.

Its human nature to be greedy but we must learn to control ourselves. statistics have shown that crimes involving money is rapidly increasing and felonies like robbery, blackmailing and kidnap is all because the person wants more money. people nowadays are also more vulnerable to phone scams. People believe others too easily and that we usually do not think that far thus It is easy for those people to get your money. Greed will make people go mad and it breeds mistrust among people as people for money may even betray their love ones.

Overall i think that although money is important it can cause many detrimental effects and i believe that "Money is the root of all evil"

My favourite author is none other than j.k Rowling. Why is she my favourite author? Well, she is the one who created the famous novel called "Harry Potter"
It is widely known all over the world and have hit book recirds when it came out. Old and young knew about harry potter.

Her stories are very captivating and intriging

Stress

As the world improves, people also need to i prove to keep up the pace of society. People in the olden days led stress free lives and need not bother about money and being able to cope in studies. Being able to eat 3 meals a day to them is enough.

Childrens can be seen playing merrily with each other at the lakeside or running aroung the valleys, playing catching. In the 21st century, things changed drastically and technology has became more advanced and thus peple need to upgrade thmeselves.

Chidrens nowadays often have headaches about school life. Msny commented that school life is touch and they dont enjoy going to school. Reports have show that there have been a rise in sucidal cases for students. This may be due to the fact that the students are getting too stress from studies through peer pressure and family pressure.

Mnay felt that they could not make it thus deeming thenselves useless. This may lead to sucidal. Such young talents wasted.

Are parents over reacting over children nowadays?

Children in Singapore are pampered kids. The got everything prepared for them from what they eat to what they wear. They are like robots already programmed to do what the are supposed to do. They got no freedom.

They can't learn to be independent. When they want to go out with their friends the parents object, because they are afraid that they will get lost. From this how can children learn how to be independent.

Parents care too much about their children. They are scared of this, scared of that. They never can put their hearts down on them. They love them to much that they unknowingly are hurting and harming them. Thsy should let them do hwta they want but with certain restrictions. Let them know what is life, let them know the world not like frogs in wells.

When parents are free, they can bring their children out, go to places of interest to broaden their horizon. Bring them overseas once in a while, i bet the children will enjoy whatever their parents do for them.

As i stood in the waiting room, i began to feel very woried. Would survive the operation. I paced around the room with fears of constitution and destitute. " why did it happen to my Mum?"," why can't it be me instead?". The more i though, the faster i walk.

I though of my past acts, all though bad things i did to my mum. I promised to god to anyone, murmer softly to save my mum at all cost, i will not stir up trouble for her again. I will do anything to save her. "Please let her survive."," let me have i chance to redeem myself."

Tears start to cascade down my face as i fall onto the ground, depressed with my fingers crossed. The lights flashed green and a doctor came out. I rushed towards the doctor and implored him of my mum's conditions.

He bowed his head low and said that he tried his best. I couldn't believe myself. I could not tak it anymore and crumbled down like a helpless tree being chopped down. I was stunned ont the spot, stuck to the ground like devil snare grabbing me, i couldnt move.

I walk beside my mum's bed and cried my heart out. It was the last chance i could hold her. Suddenly i say tears rold down her eyes. Then she woke up and looked at me and laughed. I was shocked and the nslowly realised that it was a prank my mum played on me.

I was so relieved that i could throw all my savings away. From the day onwards, liek i promised i treated my parent like GOD.

Fears

Ever though of what will happen to you when you die? These thoughs kept flashing through my minds these few years, my deepest FEAR. "Where would i go after i die?", "how do i feel, see and touch?" These rehtorical questions have lingered in me for a long long time. No one could ever answer my quetions, these questions will never be answered.

Imagine yourself stuck in the lift in a public holiday, with the light blacked off and with no handphone. How would you feel when you cant see anything. As the time ticked by the air gets thicker and thicker. How would you feel? Scared? anxious? This feeling is like death when you cant see aor do anything just laying there, asleep for a long long time.

There is no cure for fears. It is up to ourselves to believe that it doesn't matter and ots allright but for me, It could never be chnaged. Whose not scared or death, We can only wait for death to come greet us in whatever way he wants.

In a land far far away there exist a valley. The valley was idyllic and people there were merry and gay. The childrens can be seen playing merrily at the lakeside and catching each other. The parents can be seen sitting together to chat. There wass no place better than this.

People lead stressfree life and never had to worry if they have enough money or not. They like to talk to each other in a jocose manner. Whenever anyone hunted an animal, they would celerate, jubilant faces could be seen on their faces as they sing and dance around the beast.

The people there had proper decorum and was never rude to each others. They never malign each others and always enough each other to strive for the best the very best one could be.

there was a girl that was obese. she was dislike by her pals and no one wanted to be friends with her.It was very pathetic to see her ask others to play with her or look at them with longingly eyes hoping that one of them will invite her to play with them. People usually just treat that shes not there. she was never in bliss. She always has the gusto feeling around her. She always participated enthusiastically in class and was the teacher's pet.

That made the people hate her more. They started to gossip about her and came out with bad names of her like big fat pig or ugly witch. She was hurt by those words but she controlled herself from exploding, but everyone has a limit.

One day she was on a particularly bad mood and once she stepped into the classroom she was greeted with "Hi piggy!" She on the spur of moment slammed the table and punched one of the girls with all her might. She was instantly flanged off the ground and blood was gushing out of her body. She was filled with blood and groaning with extreme pain.

She was lost for words and ran away and hid from reality. "what have i done?" She decided to end her miserable life . All the unhappy thoughts flashed through her mind as she slowly walked towards the rooftop. She saw people enjoying themselves with friends but she was just sitting at a corner watching gloomily.

as she placed one leg on the edge she closed her eyes and greeted death like an old friend. That ended a young soul.

Man is inevitable to avarice and their pursuit for gold is insatisable. They just want more and more. some of the man spent their lock, stock and barrel on stocks. They have overlooked the risk as their mind is only thinking about how much they can earn.They are disgruntled by what they earned and want to earn more as they have earned. Once when the wall street crashed, it caused bedlam throughout the whole world and many went broke and homeless as all the stocks were now useless. They were all eradicated and many were so depressed until they killed themselves. it was sad to hear that and many business closed ad the world was in pandemonium.

True friends???

John an ardent student of design and technology and was well known for his ardent personality. He was a very hardworking student and was gifted for his drawings and was very good at it. He aced every test and perfected all his project and was the apple of the teachers eyes. All admired his "proness" and will kill to have his talents. He was no doubt a child prodigy in the making. he befriended many friends and lead a fulfilling life but not all his friends were sincere friends some were out to besmirch him. Make him fail for once.Just once. he reached his pinnacle at the age of 20 when the government told him to plan the youth Olympic building. He started working immediately and had many sleepless nights just to rush the deadline. Now it was a great opportunity for his evil friends to strike. They tried to sabotage him by trying to swap his project with another blank piece. But in the gang of three there is a person that is trying to help him instead and decided that he will not do nothing. The gang manage to steal the proposal and evil smirk etched on their face when they bid him farewell in the taxi. He was ruined for life they though but them the "true friend snatch the proposal and hailed a taxi and left. He called john and told him what happened and tears gushed out of his eyes. Now he knows what the meaning of true friends and evil friends. That saviour of his being his assistant and they both slowly rise in fame but one day that friend wanted to be more than a assistant and sabotaged him himself and that ended john's career.

From that day on he trusted nobody.. and sort of became a paranoid.

Boys nowadays in the society...... (personal views)

It is inevitable that we childrens are fasinated by those action-packed computer games and some are addicted to the computer like it is the only thing taht they will life for, without it life would be meaningless. It is especially prevalent for the boys to neglect their studies and spend their life on computer gaming as it gives them a sense of satisfation and power. In the game the are deemed as "la crem de la crem" meaning the cream of the crop. They are powerful and strong and people respect them. But studies to them is a tussle and tehy often feel lethargic when they need to do homework as they say that thinking drains their energy and is not good fir their health. Once in a blue moon would you see them get studying and get their bum of the computer chair and eyes not glued on the screen. Their grade would obviously be like that.... and that reflects alot of our personal life and our well being thus one can argue that although the computer brings us alot of advantages it also brings us alot of disadvantages that may destroy our whole future.

Stress......... Exams were just around the corner and John like all other boys are feeling the heat now. He like all other boys are burning the midnight oil hopoing to do some last minute revision and hope that he will at least pass. Every night he would imbibe Chicken Essence hoping that it will keep him awake through the night. Many thoughts flashed pass his mind. He was a son of two famous sages in universities, full distinction in all subject but he was the complete opposite. How disappointed will his parents be if they find out that their only child cant even manage a pass. How pathetic! He was filled with rue. He was in a deplorable situation. How would his parents react?? Two thoughts flashed past his mind. To run or to stay???? he sat there pondering for a long long time...... He wore his scandals and walked out and took the lift UP!!! He arrived at the top storey. His every step reverberated and echoed through the surrounding. He took a step up the ledge and many happy moments with his friends and parents. He took a deep breath and jumped.. Cut!!!! Too unreal john... Again please and when you feel depressed again you can come here to act again. Your acting is quite emotionally just now. And John just .. just....

Mnay villagers nowadays and in the past believe strongly about objects that are sacret and fetish to them. These aretefacts they believe once belonged to their ancestors. They will do what they can to protect it from harm,inviolable to others , even when it means giving up their lives for it. Such absurd thinkings. How native of them. Once a war had started among the opposing villages because one said that one of them tried to steal their "fetish" and they started a war. It lasted for 3months and many blood were sheded. Each still did not stop despite the entreaty of the villagers. The village heads were still fusing over this minor matter and now are still at logger-heads.

Finally one brave man came out and destroyed both aretfacts and he was killed but the conflict was resolved. Such a precious and brave young soul lost. ALl was at lost.........

The war had raged on for decades and decades. What perpetuated the war the war is that both countries cannot get togeher well and work out a peace treaty among them. Both countries wanted to be powerful and rich thus they never gave in to one another. This proved irascible to the citizens and especially the soldiers in war. The mortality rate has been increasing rapidly and had already increased ten folds from the previous clash. This was catastrophic and if the war raged on the consequences would be unimaginable and unbearable.

As the community welfare minister i strongly urge all of you all the srike against the war to prevent more injuries and deaths.

Whats coming up this year? its none other than the long awaited olympics!!! But sadly some of the world altheletes have expressed their concerns on the weather conditions of china and that the dirty air there will affect there and be caught in a serious plight. One of the runners acknowleadge that he is in doubts of whether he wants to go china and highly potential that he is not attending it. Many of the perple are unhapy with the olympics are demur it. Many protestors could be seen protesting it and trying to disrupt the smooth flowing of the olympics.

I believe that to hold an olympic the country should be in tip top condition and be in aplle pie order.

Is war ever justified? i doubt so...

I think that is a bias action that countries do for their own gain so there is no right or wrong to war. one country ca just say that they started the war for their self defence and not the purpose of dominating the other country. It has razed many cities and countries and left them in a state of pandemonium and havoc. The results of war is lethal and has affected many lifes in the world.

Many countries that are idealistic tried to bury the hatchet and try prevent future wars from happening ever again. But i think that it is impossible as wars will still happen not matter hard one try.

I believe that war helps to boost the economy and some countries benefits from the war by selling weopens to fighting countries. Well as a whole i think that war is bad and should be stopped by all means.

John, the scion of the wealthy lawyers, lead a lush life of opulence and luxuries. He never had to worry about anything as everything has been planned properly for him. He got anything and everything he wanted ranging from the latest action figurines to the most fashionable clothes. You name it, he got it. He will always have two strings in a bow when he does something for example making a new friend. Firstly he would keep talking to them if it failed he would buy things for them to make them happy and be friends with him.

People usually think that rich people are spoilt brats but John also has a kind side. He was deeply concerned for those who led their life in destitution and impoverishment. He was heartbroken to hear that that are still many people out there that don't even have a proper roof on top of their heads and even worst cant even afford a proper meal each day.

He decided that when he grow up, he would help them and nurture them to become better people with at least a glimmer of hope in their eyes that they can succeed in life and not be an outcast in the society.

She eyed the fruit knife that she had just sharpened. Along with it was a penknife and a few other weopens. It would be easy. All she had to do was to wait for him to abuse her near the box. She would not have to wait long.

Apparently, she was right. Almost immediatly her employee strutted into the room and indicted her of neglecting her chores with unabated anger. The sight of his pesky sent an adrenial of fury bolling through her blood. However she masked her anger. Revenge would be her's soon. A minute later, he advanced on her, his fist curled into a ball ,ready to deliver a punch. She backed away towards the box. He would pay for all the vicissitudes he has caused her. This would teach him not to reviled her anymore. A fraction of a second before her employee hit her, she plunged the knife down on him.

Are parents controlling too much?

Many people will have different views on this contridicting topic. Some may think that parents are controlling them too much while others say that their parents don't care what they do. The have complete freedom and control over themselves.

Firstly, some think that parents are controlling them too much. They are not allowed to go out with their friends after school and must reached home directly after school. They feel very trap and controlled. This may be due to the parents care and concern for their children but this may lead to very horrifying situation. I once had a friend that was a top scorer, all A1 but he has a very sad background. His mother gives him no freedom at all. He has to return home exactly at 3pm, does whatever he is told and needs to report to her why he is and what is he going to do.

We once had a class outing and he dearly wanted to go but his mother did not allow indicating that it was a waste of time. He was depressed and sad. His marks kept dropping and he confided in my that there were times where he though or running away, to a place where there i no one or better still leave this world forever. In the end he killed himself, such a waste of a young soul. Overcontrolling can result in chikdrens engaging in unlawful activities like drug trafiking, smoking and doing illegal stuff just for the risk and thrill to spice up their non-chalant lifes. These arent good and the love that the parents gives turns out to be not helping them but hurting them.

They will always feel los tand lonely and slowly they may become selfish people and feel that there is no use continuing to live and attemp sucidal. These are the aftermath of overcontrolling of one kids

But others may say that if they dont control their kids they may go astray and haywire. Newspaper reports have shown that underage sex is increasing and this may be due to the fact that parents are not controlling their child tight enough. Many students can be seen hanging around in school chatting and playing sports and others can also be seen in LAn(local area network), archade and shopping centres, This shows that childrens nowadays have a say in what they can do and that parents dont control their child too harshly.

I have a friend that dont study and goes to lan shop every day to play, although his results are falling and all failed his parents did nothing to stop him as thay think that it is his life and they shouldnt sppoil his fun. In the end he got kicked out of school but still can be seen in lan playing.

In conclusion i can say that parents are here to guide us along our way, to tell us wat is right and what is wrong. They should take care and control us but we should also be allowed to have a say in matters concerning us. With this the earth will be a better place to live in

Have u heard about the recent case of Thaksin(ex-prime minister of Thailand) who have been taken over by the coup and an exile have returned to thailand from the goverments fiat. You may think that thaksin is behind eight balls but think again.He is apprenhended and is accused of embezzling fund from the states. Many people believe all this is only an act and the goverment is ready to exonate thaksin just to appleased the people as he also made great contributions to the country's wealth. Well if it was me i would free him and order him to work for the country as he holds great experinces and know the ropes well.

The ideal maze i desire

Mazes nowadays are to me boring. It is just a labyrinth filled with componenets that one have to conqur to continue the search for an exit to complete the maze. Thats nothing much and is not entertaining. What i want is to create a maze just like the one in harry potter the only difference is that there won't be monsters there. The person instead needs to slove enigma to pass a place but if he answers them wrongly he would need to do something which will result in time loss.

The competitior needs to be resourceful and skillful in evrything from navigation skills to general knowledge. It would be a game of wits and courage. There will be fellacious clues place in the maze to confused the competitors. With all these i hope that the maze would be a more entaintaing anf fun.

Moral values
Moral values are important for us especially on our character development. Our parents and grandparents always tries to inculcate good values into us hoping that we will be altrustic people next time and to also pass all these values down to our progeny. These values will result in us being more amorous. Theres a famous saying that goes " rather than enjoying urself, it is better to share the joy among all (" 独乐乐，不如众乐乐").

We should not be greedy and be lured by cupidity. Some believe that money is the root of all evil and is too believe it too. Money and greed caused many people to do foolish and stupid things for gain which may result in others getting hurt. Thats why old people always say that cherish what you have and life will be great for you.

They also taught me to be frugal but also giving and generous. My grandmother always encourages me to do charity and donate to the poor that need the money more than us.

I think that everyone should learn moral values will i believe will help us in our later life one way or the other.

The effects of nuclear bombs is lethal and disastrous. Take the example at Hiroshima just one nuclear bomb destroyed the whole town and laid in ruins and leaving thousand injured. Such devastating effect is appalling to us and therefore many countries chose to ban nuclear weapons.



But the North Korea is definitely not cooperating and had built its own nuclear plant and is rumored to have enough nuclear power to perish of the whole world!!! The North Korea aspire for world domination.Some countries that posses valor like Amercia threathed north Korea to stop or else they will take action on them.

They decided to bury the hatchet by agreeing on a treaty that America is to provide them with food 100tonnes of rice and for that they will demolish the nuclear building. Such absurd request! But America have no choice but to accept it. Such irony for the government to make use of nuclear warfare to get what they want.

In this year 2008 Yu-Gi-Oh have become a craze among students in CCHMS. Many people from all walks of life can be seen surreptitious playing whether in class or in competitions. Some of the cards my friend bring were very formidable and hard to beat while some other decks was normal and i was incredulous on whether if he can win a match.

In school, there have been a rise in cases whereby students are seen playing Yu-Gi-Oh cards in school therefore Mr Chua decided to get rid of it by taking the bull by the horns y allow teachers or counsellors to subterranean detentions to anyone that is seen playing within school compound and those that dared try to defy the law will have to pay the ultimate price of getting IN-HOUSE SUSPENSION!!!!!!

Thus this greatlr reduce people from plaing in class but fear not there is still a place where people can play without getting caught.

How unlucky can i get ?

It was a rainy day, with overcast skies and roaring thunder. I was rushing frantically to school as hate miss my school bus. I was drenched form top to toe as i had left my precious umbrella at my domicile, how lax of me. I meticulously jumped over dozens of puddles but unfortunately slipped and plumented into a big ppool of muddy water. I tried to remain optimistic and that nothing could get any worse, could it? How worng i was.

Finally i reached school really late. I thruged up wearily up the neverending flight of stairs with stains around my pants. When i open the door i was greeted by roars of laughters and nasty quips made about me.

I could not take it longer and punched the student..............

Fighting is very common in ice hockey and the shocking news is its is not banned but actually promoted. Fighting is a very established part of ice hockey and some of the fans solely come to these games because of fighting.


Fighting and hockey go together like a heart and brain, you cant have one and not the other of else it will malfunction same to hockey if there are no fights many fans will lose interest in it and it will become a boring game. Hockey would not be the same without it.


The ice hockiers that "fight" are called the enforcers which are hired by team to sort of deter rough play and to protect the teams star player. Fighting occurs very often by the raise of a stick or accidentally tripping the other over as they are moving at very fast speed.


You may think that fighting means just aiming punches and kicks towards the opponent but in ice hockey fighting need SKILLS. You may think why does fighting need skills well there are many tactics that player use so that it is to their advantage.


One is the "Gordie Howe's tactic" which is to hold the sweater of the opponent right around his armpit so as to impede his movements then to aim as many punches at him.The other is "going for it" which is the basic tactic which means putting one's head down and aiming as many punches as he can.Well you may think this is very brutal but this to teams are important and necessary.


The jerseys now are sewn on with tie down straps to prevent removal because of one man call Rob Ray. He would always remove his Jersey during fights so his opponent would have nothing to grab on thus it is hard for the opponent to gain balance. This rule is usually called the Rob Ray's rule.


Fighting usually happen between two enforcers but there was a time when everyone was involved in a fight even the goalies! They fought because one of their captain was hurt. The bad part was that its was the coach that directed the fight he was heard telling the enforcers to "Go out and get them!" and one of the player called Ruff ran over the glass and shouted in the microphone " Don't go after my F***ing captain"

In this situation many people will think that fighting will lead to violence and even serious injuries inflicted on players but nothing is still done to it because fighting is a major factor on why fans come to attend hockey shows, banning fighting would cause lesser people to come and watch and thus many of the teams will lose money as well as sponsors.
Well ice hockey is still a very fantastic and exciting game and is certainly not for the faint hearted. Its a good way to enjoy yourself in the spectacular goals and the booming cheers by the crowds every second.
